Shoes on the Danube

Today is the Holocaust Memorial Day, so I'll display pictures of Shoes on the Danube Promenade - a memorial status in memory of the Jewish people from Budapest, who were murdered and thrown to the Danube during World War II.
The statue was created by Gyula Pauer and Can Togay in 2005 on the bank of the Danube in Budapest. It contains 60 pairs of different kinds of shoes made of iron.
I took these pictures last summer, when I visited Budapest.

Red River

the train was too late
by foot it was too far
the river too nearby
the hatred too strong
bullets through your head
river of blood
red Danube
dead Budapest
